Dog Trailers For Bicycles

I have a german shepard mix along with a toy poodle who i think both are in want of excellent physical excersise.
they both come to the stables with me every day and get to have a run around for at least an hour but on days where i dont go riding or i am ill i would like them to have the ability to still get some excersise. my fiance loves to ride his bike and i think it would be great for him also as the dog.
however we are both a bit lost to the best way to teach a dog the way to run next to the bike. does anybody know how or has a video i can watch on the web that shows us?
my biggest fear is that the dog runs to the side and pulls me or my fiance off or runs infront of the bike.
please advise.
